A guide for getting started with App Development in Ubuntu using Gnome Builder.

After a helpful conversation with so many people contributing to the previous post, I have figured a way that had worked for me.

1) Go to Gnome – Get Involved and select coding. Read and follow the instructions.

2) There they suggest to download Builder (org.gnome.Buder)

3) The installation is pretty easy, It will be a flatpak file basically so you just need to setup flatpak and then install Builder. (The command is also provided on the site).

Go to Flatpak Setup and set up your distro.

Go to Download Builder and download the flatpak file.

Open terminal in the download location and run the command

flatpak install filename (If you don’t want to use the command provided on their site you can use this command)

This will install all necessary files with the SDK and will setup everything.

4) Now you can start contributing to ongoing projects as it has Version control support as well or else Start a New project and build things in your preferred language. (C++, Python or something else).

5) Initially I would suggest to take time and understand the components. I figured it out and seems pretty exciting.

PS: This might not seem beginner friendly but its the most easiest which I found to actually work. All contributions are appreciated 👍🙏
